PwC - Ottawa SR&ED ( SRED )Tax Incentive Practice for R&D

A variety of tax credits, benefits and incentives are available to corporations to encourage economic growth and job creation. PricewaterhouseCoopers Ottawa Tax Incentive Practice is a driving force behind research and development claims for Ottawa's knowledge-based industries.

Hi, I'm Kent Smith, the Practice Leader for PwC's Ottawa Tax Credit Practice, and I'd like to highlight some of the tax incentive benefits available to Ottawa companies, and take the opportunity to discuss how you can become involved.

Despite the availability of funding, we at PricewaterhouseCoopers find many companies are unaware of the various incentive programs available, their complexities, or the benefits that can be gained. In particular, our team focuses on the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) and Ontario Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit (OIDMTC) programs.

We think there is a significant opportunity for Ottawa companies to leverage these programs to become more competitive and improve cash flow.

PwC can assist your company by:

  • Securing Federal and Provincial funding for the scientific and technological advances that keep your company competitive,
  • Creating awareness of the programs within your company and assisting to identify claiming opportunities,
  • Better positioning your company for future SR&ED and OIDMTC projects,
  • Reviewing and expanding your current claims, and
  • Advising your company on how to set up or structure internal processes, leading to maximum benefit from incentive programs, - we work with your people, and your existing systems.

Your company may be eligible to receive benefits in the form of refundable investment tax credits, a reduction of taxes payable, or both.

Our Ottawa team has helped companies of all sizes establish incentive claims in many industries, including; software, semiconductor, manufacturing, power generation, gaming, pulp & paper, chemical engineering, and education software, to name a few.

To help you determine if your Research and Development work and product developments meet the SR&ED and/or OIDMTC eligibility requirements, contact one of our professionals and let PricewaterhouseCoopers - Ottawa work with you to maximize your entitlement.

    SR&ED and OIDMTC program basics:

Did you know that Canada's Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is recognized worldwide as one of the most generous incentive programs for research and development? It has been around for over 20 years. Its stability can provide value and predictability to your company. PwC's Ottawa Tax Incentive Practice is a driving force behind Ottawa's knowledge-based industries and experience with SR&ED.

Hi, I'm Susan Dyer, Lead Technical Advisor, of PricewaterhouseCoopers Ottawa Research and Development Incentives Practice, and I'd like to highlight some of the benefits of the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&;ED) and the Ontario Interactive Digital Media (OIDMTC) tax credit programs, and how they may help your company.

The SR&ED program is available to businesses operating and performing R&D in Canada - including basic or applied research, or developing new or improved materials, devices, products, or processes and can earn some companies a 35% refundable tax credit.

The OIDMTC program offers a 40% refundable tax credit and is available to Ontario based businesses developing interactive digital media programs that either educate, entertain or inform the user by presenting the information in at least two of text, sound or image.

Our Ottawa team is comprised of the top practitioners in these specified programs and has helped companies of all sizes establish incentive claims in many industries, including; software, semiconductor, manufacturing, power generation, gaming, pulp & paper, chemical engineering,  and education software, to name a few.
